Public Sector Pay

I have received a number of emails this week from constituents regarding the recent Labour amendment which was tabled last week, to end the public sector pay freeze. I want to give my thoughts on this matter, and to explain why I voted against Labour’s amendment last week.

'The Great Get Together'

I am posting some photos here from a local event held in Bournemouth at the weekend in memory of Jo Cox, the former MP for Batley and Spen who was so tragically murdered one year ago as she made her way to meet local constituents.

Delighted to be re-elected

At 3:30am today, Friday 9th June 2017, I was delighted to be re-elected once again by the people of Bournemouth East as their Member of Parliament.

Manchester Attack

Having now had time to process the horrific events of Monday night's suicide bombing attack in Manchester, I wanted to offer my thoughts, which I have set out here.

My Public Meetings - Bournemouth East

My public meetings for Bournemouth East residents in the lead up to the General Election are now confirmed and listed in the above flyer.

Dissolution of Parliament

Much of the content of this website was established while I was a Member of Parliament. As Parliament has been dissolved there are no MPs until after the General Election on 8 June 2017.

Constituency Day in Bournemouth

Busy day today in Bournemouth attending my last few engagements as an MP before Parliament is dissolved on Tuesday and I begin the election campaign as candidate for Bournemouth East once again.

General Election 2017 update

Last week, I wrote to the Chairman of Bournemouth East Conservative Association to seek re-nomination as their Conservative Candidate for Bournemouth East in the General Election on June 8th.

This week, Theresa May announced her intention to call a General Election and yesterday, MPs including myself from across the House voted in agreement with her by 522 votes to 13 (a majority of 509). This means that on Thursday 8th June, the UK will be having a General Election.
