Tobias Ellwood, MP for Bournemouth East, has received confirmation today that Bournemouth will benefit from one of the fifteen new Special Educational Needs Schools announced by the Chancellor in his Spring Budget Statement.
Mr Ellwood wrote to both the Secretary of State for Education and the Chancellor following the Spring Budget, making the case for Bournemouth to be considered a priority recipient of the new wave of free schools. Mr Ellwood has held a number of meetings with the Department of Education to improve SEND provision's in Bournemouth East, after a number of constituents and Headteacher's voiced their concerns about lack of local provisions and BCP Council's mismanagement of the Dedicated School's Grant (DSG). More about this mismanagement can be found over on Mr Ellwood's SEND campaign page, linked below:

Commenting on the announcement Mr Ellwood said: "I am delighted to announce that after months of lobbying and fruitful discussions with the Secretary of State, the Department of Education and the Chancellor, I am thrilled to confirm funding for a brand new Special Educational Needs school right here in our community. I look forward to seeing the positive impact this will have on our children’s lives. I will continue to work hard to ensure that every child had the opportunity to thrive!"
"As someone who has personally navigated the challenges of Dyslexia, I understand the transformative power of tailored education. The announcement of a free Special Needs School in our community is not just news, it's a beacon of hope for every child who struggles with traditional learning environments. Together, we're shaping a future where every child's unique abilities are celebrated and nurtured."
