MP for Bournemouth East, Tobias Ellwood, joined the BH9 Business Community and David Sidwick, the Police and Crime Commissioner for Dorset for a meeting to discuss local concerns. The predominant issue being the rising cases of shoplifting in small supermarkets.
Mr Ellwood described the meeting as highly productive, with many ideas to tackle this issue:
- Increasing the number of security guards for shops, so they can be pro-active in taking in-store action.
- Speeding up the police response time.
- Tightening the law for repeat offenders.
