Tobias Ellwood, MP for Bournemouth East, met with Wessex Water for an update on his water monitoring initiative.
Mr Ellwood has been working with both Wessex Water and the Environment Agency for some time, to encourage real-time data available (via app). So that residents, tourists and water sport enthusiasts can see, at any moment, how clean and safe the beaches are.
Commenting Mr Ellwood said: "I am really pleased that sensors at the end of both Bournemouth and Boscombe piers go live in June - but today, after listening to feedback from my constituents, I have asked for a 3rd sensor to be placed just off Hengistbury Head. As an avid surfer myself, I appreciate that access to up-to-date information empowers us to make informed decisions about when and where to enjoy our coastal waters."
"I will continue working with stakeholders to ensure our waters are kept clean and our marine ecosystems are safeguarded. Together, through ongoing initiatives and collaborative efforts, we'll prioritise transparency and continue investing in technologies that provide invaluable insights for both surfers and beachgoers alike."
