Tobias Ellwood, MP for Bournemouth East, hosted a meeting in Parliament with representatives from South Western Railway and National Rail to discuss his concerns with the slow progress of Pokesdown Station upgrades.
After successfully campaigning for project funding, Tobias has continued to lobby stakeholders for the prompt instillation of a working lift.
Commenting Mr Ellwood said: "It has been disappointing to see this project take so long, with many of my constituents suffering from restricted access to the platform. During my meeting I was reassured by all involved parties that on-site work will commence in October 2024, once BCP Council have transferred the £2.6 million committed by the former Conservative Council."
Off the back of his meeting, Tobias has written to the Chief Executive of BCP Council to ask when the approved funds will be transferred to the project in keeping with the project timeline. He has also asked the Secretary of State for Transport to take the necessary steps to ensure the planned rail upgrades take place in 2024.
