On the 20th of September, Tobias visited King’s Park Primary School in Bournemouth for their ‘Going for Gold’ campaign. The Year 4 pupils that participated are helping to highlight the fact that over 67 million children around the world are still missing out on an education. The petition they created calls on the Prime Minister to fulfil his promise for all children across the globe to be given the opportunity of schooling by 2015.
On the 19th of November, Tobias hand-delivered the petition to Downing Street alongside a letter to the Rt Hon David Cameron MP requesting that he consider the importance of education for all and the reasons King’s Park pupils provided.
Tobias said:
I found my visit to King’s Park Primary School for their ‘Going for Gold’ day hugely successful. The children and staff had made a huge effort to consider the importance of education for all children around the world and the petition they had put together demonstrated that.
I took great pleasure in handing their individually-made paper medallions to No. 10 Downing Street and am hopeful the Prime Minister will agree with the sentiments expressed by the pupils of King’s Park.
