Bournemouth Jubilee Celebrations!
A Diamond Jubilee is a once in a lifetime occasion - 60 years ago Queen Elizabeth II took to the throne and since then has given a lifetime’s worth of devotion and support to Britain and her public. Symbolic to many around the world, the Queen represents the United Kingdom tirelessly and has provided some much-needed stability over decades of change.
The long weekend is a chance to spend time with family, friends and neighbours- all in the spirit of community. How are you celebrating the Queen’s 60th year on the throne? Here’s what’s going on in Bournemouth:
The Big Lunch – Join a party
45 street parties will be taking place across Bournemouth this weekend. It’s a great chance to have lunch with your neighbours and spend the day outside. Look out for gardens, parks, pubs, village greens, schools, cul-de-sacs, driveways, community centres and town squares that are open to the community.
Jubilee on the Beach
The whole family can enjoy 2 days of free entertainment on the east side of the pier on the seafront.
Tribute bands and live dance acts will be available from 10am-2pm on Sunday and from 2pm on Monday, with a finale at 10.30pm.
The Sovereign Centre’s Party
The Sovereign Centre is offering a wealth of free family-friendly activities from 11am-5pm including face painting, musical entertainment and a tea party.
Diamond Jubilee Proms in the Park
Held in Meyrick Park this promises to be a great evening of popular classics and patriotic favourites. From 8pm on Monday the 4th, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra will be playing beautiful music. Go to www.bhlivetickets.co.uk for tickets – they are still some left.
Boscombe’s Vintage Jubilee Garden Party
Creative Kids Annual Fundraising Event 2012. Part One will be held on Sunday 3rd June from 12 till 4pm at Seabournes Pub, Pokesdown. The event will be 1950's themed.
