Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Defence Secretary
Following the May 2010 General Election Tobias was appointed Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Defence Secretary.
Tobias said 'I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with the Defence Secretary and his team in what is likely to be a busy period ahead. In addition to the continued involvement in Afghanistan the Defence Secretary will also be conducting a Strategic Defence and Security Review (SDSR) and modernization of the department.'
Tobias is a former Army Officer in the Royal Green Jackets, and current member of the TA. He is a regular visitor to Afghanistan and Iraq and recently completed the Senior Executive Course on National and International Security at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
Tobias' proposal for the creation of a Stabilization Force, put forward in his publication 'Post Conflict Reconstruction: Bridging the gap between military and Civilian affairs on the modern battle field' is now part of the coalition Government's policy.
