The
name of the seat has been Bournemouth East since 1974.
Prior to that, it was Bournemouth East and Christchurch from
1950.
From
1918 it was simply Bournemouth (though New Forest
and Christchurch division of Hampshire also elected Members
of Parliament during this period).
During
the period of 1832 until 1918 the area now known as Bournemouth
East was incorporated within the parliamentary constituency
of Christchurch.
