A vision for our town

Bournemouth has so much potential, but poor decision making by the Lib Dem Council is changing the character of our town.

Tobias lists seven of the Lib Dem decisions he opposes and seven areas which could improve Bournemouth for all the family.

  Damaging Bournemouth
1
Plans to build around 20,000 more homes in Bournemouth
2
Sale of the Yellow Buses and sea front car parks
3
Closure of the BIC pool and care centres
4
Rising levels of graffiti and cuts in CCTV budget
5
Demolition of the end of Boscombe pier
6
Building flats on Boscombe promenade
7
Over-development of Castle Lane

  Improving Bournemouth
1
Turn the IMAX into an useful wet weather facility
2
Stop over-development
• Give local residents more say in planning decisions
• Halt the Mallard Road development (old bus depot)
3
Parking and Infrastructure
• If local consultation allows, let JP Morgan and the hospital
. increase the size of their car parks
• Complete the Wessex Way onto the A3049, as originally
.
planned, relieving the congestion on Castle Lane
4
Investment in youth activities
• Provide more facilities for older children to expend their
. energy and keep them active, and so curb street-corner
. activities
5
A greener Bournemouth
• Introduce full doorstep recycling
• Invest in a town wide bike network to curb reliance on cars
6
Improving Boscombe seafront
• Upgrade Boscombe pier
• Bring back pleasure trips
• Expand the CCTV and turn back on seafront area
7
Regaining control of our Town Centre
• Limit on the number of night clubs in town centre
• Charge a levy on pubs and clubs to pay for the extra policing . the area needs, freeing police to cover the rest of the town
• Increase parking and reduce charges to encourage shoppers

The speed with which Bournemouth's assets have been sold reflects a town without a long term strategy.

Bournemouth needs a vision which we annually work towards, which promotes our town, safeguards its character and makes it an attractive place for all the family.
